Steven Heidel (he/him)

Steven Heidel has spent the past decade in Silicon Valley working in the cutting-edge fields of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. For the past three years he has worked at OpenAI, with a front-row seat to the explosive growth of AI tools like ChatGPT.

Steven grew up in Prince Albert and graduated with a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan in 2014. He began his career in software engineering at LinkedIn, then spent 5 years working in quantum computing research - first at Rigetti Computing and later leading software development at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing. In late 2022, after trying ChatGPT for just a few minutes and seeing its monumental jump in capabilities, he shifted his focus fully to AI.

An avid traveler and presenter, Steven has given talks on AI in San Francisco, New York, London, Paris, and Singapore.
