Sam is an entrepreneurial product and people leader with a track record of turning complex tech innovation into simple, user-centric products in the cleantech, smart home, automotive and construction industries.
She dropped out of law school to be the first non-engineering hire at dcbel, a venture-backed cleantech startup, to launch a portfolio of hardware and software products that help consumers take ownership over their energy supply through bidirectional EV charging, solar power, and battery storage.
Sam has held a variety of product, marketing, and growth roles, and played an important role in scaling the dcbel team from 5 to >100 through pre-seed to a $50M Series B.
From a category defining Home Energy Station enabling households to generate, store and sell their clean power to a B2B energy marketplace allowing energy providers and consumers to collaborate in grid decarbonization, Sam has spent more than a decade solving hard engineering problems and leveraging the power of design to distill complex tech innovation into user-centric products.
In 2022, she had the honor of being named one of the 35 most promising EV industry professionals under 35 by Business Insider and was recently named as an emerging leader shaping Canadian culture, society and economy by the Peak, a Canadian publication read by >150k public policy and business professionals.
