Building the company OS

By any standard, Roblox is a tech juggernaut. The gaming platform has 380 million monthly active users, and 85 million people use it every day. It has over 40 million games created by 2.5 million developers, and brought in $3.6 billion in revenue in 2024. It's currently valued at more than US$40B. And yet it employs only 3,000 people.

How does a company grow its business without growing headcount? Most large businesses rely on Enterprise Requirement Planning (ERP) tools to handle everything from payroll to hiring to accounting. They form the "operating system" of a company. But ERPs are notoriously expensive, demanding an army of consultants to configure and manage them. Is there a better way?

It's no secret that AI can augment humans, making them more productive and efficient while improving the quality of their work. So Roblox set out to build its own operating system: Roblox OS. And it tapped startup veteran, angel investor, and literal rocket scientist Theresa Johnson to make it happen. In this talk, Theresa will describe how Roblox thinks about growth, what it's doing to scale the company while leveraging AI, and what organizations of all sizes can learn about how to run companies in the future.
